Peace of Mind

Several years ago, I went on a day trip to the mountains. I decided to head home right about sunset. Driving along the mountain road with the sun in my eyes while feeling tired from a long day got the better of me. Somewhere along the line I dozed off. The road had a drop off on one side, and an uphill slope on the other. Unfortunately, I was driving on the down hill side. I woke up just as my truck was going over the edge of a steep slope. The next thing I remember was feeling an impact and looking up to see the hood of my pickup folded up in front of the windshield. My truck wedged into a clump of big pines, which was a blessing because it kept the truck from tumbling down the hill.
That was definitely a scary experience, but amazingly I also felt a sense of peace because I knew that God was in control. Even though God brought me through that ordeal unharmed, I knew that if I had died in that accident, I would have gone to heaven.
That same peace I experienced that day is with me each day of my life. I can face whatever circumstance life throws at me with hope because I know that I have eternal life.
