I chose to follow Jesus when I realized that in the big picture of things, God had a purpose for me, and by following Jesus Christ, I could learn and be empowered to fulfill that plan. In small ways he taught me through His Word, that to trust Him meant to not fear man, and not tto fear life since he was in control of it all.
When people mistreat me, when I suffer loss or life's circumstances turn negative, I have a peace in knowing that God is in control, Christ paid for my disobedience to God with his own life, and that God has provided the Bible and his Holy spirit to guide me so that I can fufill the purpose he has for me.
By repenting from my rebellion toward God, accepting the payment that Christ's death provided, studying the promises and instructions in the Bible, and looking to the Holy Spirit to teach and guide me, I have a great freedom to love and serve God and others. I don't need to fear loss of things, nor what people will do to me, since God is in control and is providing only what I need for that time. That freedome continues in knowing that I will be with Jesus in eternity worshiping and praising God.
