I tried to find the love I so desired in many destructive relationships, while striving to do well at work and gain acceptance in that way. The poor choices I made in my friendships led me to substances that took away the pain for a short while, only to lead to a greater sense of loneliness and unworthiness. It was a very negative cycle.
I was disappointed that nothing seemed to be able to fill the void I felt and yet I knew there had to be something better.
Before I received eternal life, I felt an emptiness and lack of purpose that left me feeling that life had no value.
Then, I received eternal life.
After I received eternal life, I realized I did not need to depend on other people or things to feel valued and loved. I had a new sense of purpose in my life and found it easier to enjoy people without needing them.
Now every day is a new adventure that I look forward to, but the best part of knowing I have eternal life is that I know absolutely for sure that when I die I'm going to Heaven to be with God forever.
